Each year GFWC sponsors art contests for members with an Arts Festival held in March.
PLEASE NOTE: The art contest has been completed for 2020 entries. New categories will be posted this summer.
The categories for members are as follows:
Photography - The World in Pictures - color or black & white - Living Things, Scenic, or Still Life
GFWC Volunteers in Action - Capture GFWC members in action as they engage in volunteer services.
A Year in Pictures - Calendar Contest - All entries (flowers, fauna, vistas, etc.) will be considered. Photos must be color prints and horizontal/landscape view.
Member Short Story and Poetry Contests:
Short stories limited to 2,000 words.
Poetry contest: Entries of poems can be any style, with a minimum length of eight (8) lines and a maximum of fifty (50) lines.
Member Craft Contests. Member craft items completed during the contest year: January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020 are as follows:
Decoupage Plastic Plate
Maximum size 11" x 11" x 3" high
Using a clear plastic plate, decorate from the back.
Use fabric, napkins, tissue paper, paper, etc.
Flat Wall Sconce
Maximum size 14" wide x 14" high x 14" deep
Using artificial flowers create an arrangement in a flat wall sconce.
Sconce container can be purchased or handmade, NO lights allowed.
Eyeglass Case
Maximum size 8" length x 4" width x 3" height.
In support of the President's Project (Vision Impairment Awareness).
Create (make) and decorate a usable eyeglass case. Cannot be store bought.
Can be sewn from fabric or a handmade hard case.
Coloring Ornament
Maximum size 6" x 6" x 6"
Color and decorate the provided ornament (Contact arts chairman for a copy of the ornament)
May be copied onto heavier card stock.
Bracelet
Maximum size 8" x 3" x 1"
Create a bracelet using beads, stones, etc.
March of Dimes Project
Baby Blankets and Hats. In partnership with March of Dimes and support of the Junior's Special Program: Advocates for Children.
Knitted baby hats
Blankets for babies in 3 categories:
Sewn/quilted
Crocheted
Knitted
Hats and blankets will not be judged. Keep in mind that all hats are welcome and needed whatever works best for the creator.
