    GFWC Mechanicsburg is currently working on the GFWC Pennsylvania President's Project "Enrich, Educate, Empower--Every Child Every Day".  The project encourages the GFWC Pennsylvania women to carry out projects to benefit the children of their community and/or of the world.

    GFWC Mechanicsburg will work to provide food, supplies, funds, volunteer hours and other needs to support the health and welfare of children in their schools and communities.

Upcoming Events:


GFWC Mechanicsburg made the centerpiece display for five tables at the GFWC PA convention April 28-29, 2017.  We collected123 items of art supplies- coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, single play-do packs, activity books, word search and Sudoku books. The items were made into five baskets for the tables.  After the convention the centerpiece items will be donated to Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation in conjunction with our President's Project.  See Photos page for the results.


Saturday, April 22nd

GFWC Mechanicsburg will have a table at Mechanicsburg's Earth Day celebration.  We will have planst to sell plus a free craft for the kids.  There will be rocks to paint and items to make thumb print pictures on.  Stop by and see us.


Monday, April 24th

Federation Day.  This commemorates the founding of General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1890.


April 28-29th

GFWC Pennsylvania Convention in Altoona.  Carol Bogar and Sue Hardenbrook will be attending to represent the Club and deliver our five centerpieces.


Thursday, May 14th

GFWC Mechanicsburg will have a work day at the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation headquarters to pack boxes for the Bear-Able Gift program.  We will meet at the church at 8:30 AM to car pool to New Oxford.  We have done this before and found that it is a fun day.

Monday mornings don't have to be dreary! Join us every Monday from 10:00 - 11:30 am to enjoy a nice cup of tea and work on your stitching project - crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery - all are welcome! Meet other stitching enthusiasts and learn from one another.

 NOW - May 6, 2017: “Wide World Of Glass” Exhibit. Art glass to utilitarian glass, with many varieties in between, glass is everywhere in our lives. Come have a look at it from our unique viewpoint!


April 19 at 12pm: “The ‘Great War’ Calls at Home - Local National Guardsmen Mobilize for WWII” by John Maietta, Retired Army Officer, Historian. A Presentation highlighting the long wait guardsmen endured before they could join the fight overseas.  

April 23 at 2pm: “A History of Fire Protection in Mechanicsburg, 1830-2016” by Randy Watts, Author, Instructor and Researcher. This program discusses the volunteer fire companies of Mechanicsburg and traces its evolution in firefighting.
